Chris Hemsworth joins Ron Howard's Formula One film, Rush
Chris Hemsworth's meteoric rise continues. With Thor hammering the box office earlier this summer, he jumped from that right into The Avengers, and then it'll be another huge franchise flick with Snow White and the Huntsman. After that is he going to take a much deserved breather? Not at all. Instead he'll jump into the drivers seat of Rush, Ron Howard's biopic on the world of Formula One racing.
After Paul Greengrass was circling the director's gig for awhile, Ron Howard took over a few weeks ago, leaving many to wonder about the future of The Dark Tower(still wondering!!). Deadline reports that shooting could begin early next year, throwing more fuel onto that fire. That timeframe should also work for Hemsworth, who will also need to gird his loins for the Thor sequel.
Rush features a script by Oscar nominated writer Peter Morgan, and will tell the story of the rivalry between Formula One racers James Hunt(Hemsworth) and Niki Lauda. It'll probably focus on their epic clash for the World Championship in 1976, in which Lauda suffered a near fatal accident which put him briefly into a coma. His time away allowed Hunt to win the championship that year.
