Trailer Time: Hugo, a 3D adventure directed by Martin Scorsese

There's probably been a good deal of worry about the idea of Martin Scorsese tackling a kid adventure film, in 3D no less. It's a far cry from the gritty, crime laden films we've seen from him in the past. Although he's been making subtle shifts away from that stuff for a bit now. You can look at last year's Shutter Island as an example. But there's no doubt that Hugo is his greatest departure to date. I can honestly say now after watching this first trailer for the film, my concerns are gone and I just want November 23rd to get here already, and not just so I can stuff my face with turkey.

It's kinda funny to see this trailer after watching the conclusion of Harry Potter. The first film in that franchise started off so innocent, looking a lot like how this does, before taking a dark turn. Hugo isn't the first chapter in a series, at least not a planned one anyway. It's adapted from Brian Selznick's book, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, and follows an orphan boy living a secret life at a train station, until he gets swept up in a mystery involving an eccentric toymaker, a heart shaped lock without a key, and his own father.

I'll be most curious to see how Scorsese handles the 3D aspect. I hope it's not the beginning of a trend for him. I don't want Goodfellas 3D.

Chloe Moretz, Emily Mortimer, Asa Butterfield, Sacha Baron Cohen, Ray Winstone, Jude Law, Ben Kingsley, Christopher Lee, and Michael Stuhlbarg star.

Unlock the secret of Hugo on November 23rd!
