Trailer Time: Jack and Jill, starring Adam Sandler and...Adam Sandler
If it wasn't for the brief bit we see of Al Pacino, playing himself rather hilariously it seems, this trailer for Jack and Jill would be a total disaster. As it is it's only a minor one. Normally, playing dual roles in any film would be cause for some level of recognition. It ain't easy. Yet here, Adam Sandler seems to be doing it in the least humorous, least worthy way possible. At this point he's just playing himself, even when it's himself as a girl. Yeah, he plays both Jack and Jill, twin siblings who apparently have nothing in common other than their ugly mugs. All of Sandler's Happy Madison buddies are there, so at least we know he had fun on set...
Katie Holmes, set free from the Cruise compound to earn a few shillings for Xenu, is little more than a fractured smile and a hairdo. She used to be able to act and bag really good movies, I swear. Fortunately for Sandler, his movies tend to make money. Even Just Go With It, lesser Sandler by anybody's measure, made over $200M. If anybody else had a string of creative duds like this(he hasn't had a good film since '06), they'd be making infomercials in Outer Mongolia right now.
Jack and Jill opens in theaters on November 11th.
