It's been three years since Mark Pellington directed the spiritual dramedy, Henry Poole is Here, about a lonely man who gets more attention than he bargained for when people start seeing of image of Christ on the side of his home. A polarizing film to be sure, but to me it was thoughtful and funny enough to work even if you're not a person of deep faith. Pellington also directed the American terrorist film, Arlington Road, a personal favorite of mine. But now Pellington is back with his next project, I Melt With You.
Featuring Thomas Jane, Rob Lowe, Jeremy Piven, and Christian McKay all looking rode hard and put up wet, the film surrounds four old friends indulging in alcohol and some pretty hard drugs while at their annual reunion. When tragedy strikes, the remaining buds re-examine their lives and decide to revisit the pact they made years prior. Sasha Grey(The Girlfriend Experience) co-stars, along with Carla Gugino.
Reports coming out Sundance haven't been kind, but Pellington hasn't let me down yet. You can check I Melt With You on VOD starting in November, or wait for the theatrical release on December 9th. A new red band trailer has been unveiled, which you can hit up below...
