Marvel Comics used to run this really off beat series I loved called 'What If?', and the purpose of it was to present different spins on some of the integral moments in the Marvel Universe. So it'd be like..."What if...Galactus was really Reed Richards?", or some stuff like that. It was a series that inspired creativity, and it was the launching pad for a number of great comics creators. Well now there's sortof a movie version of that same idea, in the alternate universe WWII film, Resistance.
From first-time director Amit Gupta, and based on the novel by Owen Sheers, the story takes place in a small village in 1944, and supposes that the Germans successfully counter-attacked Great Britain after a failed invasion at Normandy. Andrea Riseborough(Never Let Me Go) plays a woman who falls in love with a member of the occupying German force, played by Tom Wlaschiha(Brideshead Revisited). Michael Sheen co-stars.
No word on if this will ever make it's way here to the States, but it's due to land in the UK in November. Let's hope Riseborough's rising profile and the inclusion of Sheen will at least get us a limited roll out. Check out the trailer for Resistance below...[TheGuardian via ThePlaylist]
