Cam Gigandet joins Anna Paquin in the indie-drama, Free Ride
Cam Gigandet and those darn bushy, Gallagher-esque eyebrows of his have been everywhere lately. And as much as I may hate it, his flicks tend to draw a lot of attention. This year alone he's starred in the remake of The Roommate, and the dismal Priest alongside Paul Bettany. But last year saw him opposite Emma Stone in Easy A, and then dressed up like a pansy with Cher in Burlesque. Dude gets around. To think I figured he was just another forgettable bad guy in 2008's underrated martial arts flick, Never Back Down.
We're only a couple of days away from Gigandet being seen yet again in the home invasion thriller, Trespass(with Nic Cage and Nicole Kidman), but he's already adding more to his slate. Variety reports he'll join Anna Paquin in the indie drama, Free Ride, from writer/director Shana Sosin.
Paquin and her husband Stephen Moyer(True Blood) will produce the film through their new imprint, SCAMP. Free Ride is based on a true story of an abused single mother who heads to Florida with her two daughters to start a new life amidst the turbulent 1970s. Gigandet will naturally play her love interest. Drea De Matteo(Prey for Rock and Roll), Liana Liberato(Trust), Brit Morgan, Ava Acres, and Jeff Hephner co-star. Production is set to kick off later this month.
