It wouldn't be Oscar season without Michelle Williams' name being bandied about for some award or another. This year might be tough, though, with maybe ten people in the whole world having seen her in the neo-western Meek's Cutoff. Her best shot might be in My Week With Marilyn, in which she portays this country's greatest sex symbol, Marilyn Monroe.
Directed by Simon Curtis, the film chronicles the tumultuous set of 1957's The Prince and the Showgirl, in which Marilyn starred(and frequently feuded) with Laurence Olivier. Based on Colin Clark's pair of novels, covering his time spent accompanying the starlet after her husband Arthur Miller left the country. Eddie Redmayne, Kenneth Branagh, Emma Watson, Dominic Cooper, Dougray Scott, Julia Ormond, and Judi Dench co-star. Even with all that starpower, the real focus will be how Williams embodies Monroe, and since I haven't seen any of her in action yet, all I have to go on is how she looks. And judging by the posters and these two new photos, she definitely has Monroe's sultry side down pat. Check 'em those pics below....
It's amazing how easily Williams seems to fit into every role, making them her own. Playing a figure like Monroe is going to bring a heavy amount of scrutiny, but can anyone deny how beautiful she is in these pics? Lucky cameraman....
My Week with Marilyn will open on November 4th.
