For Sam Levinson, being the son of veteran director Barry Levinson(Diner, Rain Man) is probably a double edge sword. Certainly it affords him loads of available avenues for launching his own career, but on the other hand it comes with loads of expectations. Fortunately he's managed to round up a superb cast that should help make his debut, Another Happy Day, draw some attention.
Starring Ellen Barkin, Demi Moore, Thomas Haden Church, Ezra Miller(City Island), Kate Bosworth, and Ellen Burstyn, the dark comedy is a complicated family tangle taking place at the wedding of the oldest son. Lynn(Barkin) was once married to Paul(Church), but they divorced with each gaining custody of one of their two kids(Michael Nardelli and Bosworth). Years later, Paul is now married to Patty(Moore), who Lynn can't get along with. On the day of Dylan's wedding, all sides of the family come together for what promises to be an explosive affair.
The film performed well at Sundance earlier this year, securing a November 4th release date. Check out the new expletive-filled red band trailer below, and look out for the film if it hits your town...
On a side note, I wonder if Barkin and Moore have been sharing cradle robbing stories on set. The 57 year old Barkin has been dating her 26 year old director since filming came to a close.
