What was the last great period piece crime film? From Hell? Some would probably argue that Jack the Ripper flick starring Johnny Depp was hardly "great", but it was certainly decent, and with The Hughes Brothers directing it at least had a spark of energy to it. There really haven't been many such films since, and certainly none worth talking about. But what about The Raven? After some drab looking photos, a new trailer for the film has been released and it may be more twisted fun than expected.
Directed by James McTeigue(V for Vendetta), The Raven is a serial killer flick featuring Edgar Allan Poe(John Cusack) teaming up with a Baltimore detective(Luke Evans) to track down a killer using the writer's work as inspiration. Alice Eve and Oliver Jackson-Cohen also star. Yep, definitely getting a From Hell vibe, mixed with a little bit of the grisly humor of a Sleepy Hollow. The Raven hits theaters on March 9th, so go ahead and check out the trailer below...
