Dexter's daddy joins the cast of Django Unchained

I'd kill for Quentin Tarantino to do one of those video blogs chronicling the day-to-day filming of Django Unchained. Just think how awesome it'll be on that set, with faces like Leonardo Dicaprio, Jamie Foxx, and Samuel L. Jackson popping up around every corner. Can we get some footage of the table reads? Maybe just some pics of what they do on lunch break? With shooting set to kick off in January, the casting should be nearing a close, and with the three latest additions it may actually be completed.

Tom Wopat, James Russo, and James Remar have signed on, and while they may not be the biggest names, I'm betting you've seen each of these guys before. Wopat is probably best recognized as playing Luke Duke in the original The Dukes of Hazzard. Seriously. That guy is still hanging around and is actually an acclaimed stage performer in his own right. He most recently had a small role in last year's Jonah Hex. He'll play Marshall Gill Tatum.

Remar and Russo will play the two slave trading brothers, Ace and Dicky Speck. They're the guys who first purchase Django at the Greenville Slave Auction. Remar is the busiest and most recognizable of all, with his regular gig on Showtime's Dexter. He recently played a general in X-men: First Class and will star in the upcoming superhero horror film, Versus. To me he'll always be Ajax in Walter Hill's The Warriors. leaRusso is less familiar to me, but I remember him for his work alongside Kevin Costner in The Postman and Open Range.

So here's how the entire Django Unchained cast looks now minus these new faces: Jamie Foxx, Leonardo Dicaprio, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, Kerry Washington, Kurt Russell, Dennis Christopher, Don Johnson, Rza, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Misty Upham, M.C. Gainey, Laura Cayouette, Tom Savini, and Anthony Lapaglia.

That's pretty sick. Django Unchained will open Christmas Day 2012. [Variety]
