Johnny Depp and Michelle Pfeiffer featured in new 'Dark Shadows' photo
If it seems as if we've seen very little from Tim Burton's remake of Dark Shadows, it's for a pretty good reason. Other than a few set photos, the remake of the 1960s inexplicably loved gothic TV series has remained mostly under wraps. It's not a movie I'm especially interested in, other than that it's another chance to see what weirdness can be cooked up by the unholy pairing of Burton and Johnny Depp.
The series, which ran from 1966-1971, was pretty campy but considerably less so than something like The Addams Family. It had a much larger world, a greater cast of strange characters, and deeper storylines. Johnny Depp will play Barnabus Collins, a playboy who in 1752 scorns a witch named Angelique Brouchard(Eva Green), who then curses him to become a vampire. Left for dead, Barnabus wakes up in the 20th century and returns to his manor, only to find it taken over by quirky descendants hiding untold secrets. Michelle Pfeiffer plays Elizabeth Stoddard, the family matriarch, who must deal with her unscrupulous brother(Jonny Lee Miller) and rebellious daughter(Chloe Moretz). Helena Bonham Carter, Jackie Earle Haley, Alice Cooper(!!!), and Christopher Lee co-star.
An Italian fansite has unearthed a new image from the film, showing Depp looking like the most uncool guy at a Marilyn Manson concert. We'll probably be getting a trailer soon, with the May 11th release date rapidly approaching.
