HBO sets release date for 'Game Change'; 'Grown Ups 2' set for July 2013
A pair of release dates for movies I'm keeping a close watch on for two totally different reasons. The first is Game Change, the HBO political film from Jay Roach and Danny Strong, the duo who brought us the excellent Recount a couple of years ago. Based on the book by political insiders Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, it centers on the 2008 Presidential campaign. Starring Ed Harris as John McCain and Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin, the film will premier on March 10th. Hopefully at that time the clown car known as the Republican Primary will still be in full swing.
Last month, Hollywood reconfirmed it's creative bankruptcy when we learned that a sequel to Grown Ups was in the works. Y'know, that terribly unfunny vacation Adam Sandler took with his buddies, Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade, and Rob Schneider, caught on tape and presented to us as a feature film? Yeah, that one. Unfortunately, it appears to have been given the full green light as Comingsoon.net reports that it now has a release date of July 12th 2013. Ahhh, just in time to stink up your summer.
As of now, nobody is confirmed to return. Not even Sandler is a done deal yet, but let's be honest...he WILL be back. After the disaster that was Jack & Jill he needs to come back for what was his most financially successful comedy in years. This will mark the first time Sandler has made a sequel to one of his own movies, at least until the well truly runs dry and we get 9 Crazy Nights or something. Fred Wolf, who was the genius who wrote the last film, is expected to pen the sequel.
