Over a year ago we first learned that a film adapting Kentauro Miura's epic manga series, Berserk, was in the works. I first got into Berserk like a lot of American fans did, either through the awesome anime TV series(of which I still own the DVD boxed set) or through the Sword of the Berserk video game on the Sega Dreamcast(still the best system ever!!) back in 2000. The story follows Guts, a brutish mercenary with a prosthetic body and carries a gigantic sword the size of Arkansas. The film will focus on the Golden Age arc of the manga, divided up into three films. So this could be a massive undertaking, and one that I can't wait to see hit our shores.
I'm not sure when the trailer for the first film was released, but here it is and the animation is fluid and much cleaner than the initial anime series. It should open in Japan next month, and hopefully find a way here soon after. Check it out below.....
