'Act of Valor' directors take on street racing flick, 'High Speed'

After looking like a spoof film, or a military recruitment ad back when the first footage was released, Act of Valor has steadily picked up some solid word of mouth and looks poised to make some noise next week. The same goes for it's directors, Scott Waugh and Mike McCoy, collectively known as the Bandito Brothers. They're set to turn their little, independently financed production house into a major force, and the next project on their slate may do just that.

Deadline reports the duo will next direct High Speed, a stylized car chase film centered on an elite team of high speed police pursuit drivers, put together to take down a dangerous underground street racing circuit. Yeah, it sounds like Fast and the Furious, but with that franchise shifting it's focus more into heist film territory, it may open up a potentially lucrative window. The script comes from Greg Russo, and like Act of Valor, Bandito Brothers will independently finance the picture.

Production won't begin until some time in 2013, which will give Waugh and McCoy time to finish up Black Sands, the supernatural thriller starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
