Amy Adams is 'An Object of Beauty' for Steve Martin

While Steve Martin will perhaps always be known as a comedian, actor, and that guy who used to do a bit with an arrow through his head, he's also quite the accomplished novelist. It began way back in 1979 with his Cruel Shoes satirical essays, and continues to this day. He actually spends far more time writing nowadays than acting, which if you saw The Big Year it might be a good thing.  Martin saw one of his novels adapted back in 2005 with Shopgirl, which he starred in alongside Claire Danes and Jason Schwartzman. It was ultimately a disappointment in just about every conceivable way, but perhaps Martin will have better luck as his recent novel, An Object of Beauty, is next to be headed to the big screen.

Amy Adams will star in and produce the film which follows Lacey Yeager, an art entrepreneur who over the course of 15 years, uses her tangled relationships with men to travel the world and eventually gain her own art gallery. It's a bit of a change of pace for Adams, playing a woman with an evil side and unafraid of exploiting people to her own advantage.

With no director, writers, or additional casting this one is clearly still in the earliest stages. Adams will be seen next in Man of Steel, then starring in Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master, as well as Walter Salles's On the Road, and alongside Clint Eastwood in Trouble with the Curve.
