'Junebug' director lines up Paul Giamatti, Paul Rudd, and Sally Hawkins for his next film

Phil Morrison won over everybody's hearts(thanks to a little help from a sparkling Amy Adams) with his small town comedy, Junebug, back in 2006. After appearing to be a filmmaker to keep a close watch on, he's been non-existent for the last five years, popping up for the occasional commercial and one episode of Enlightened. Now that he's ready to make his return to the silver screen, he's got a top notch cast looking to front his sophomore effort.

Paul Giamatti, Paul Rudd, and Sally Hawkins(Happy Go Lucky) are set to star in Lucky Dog, a comedy which Morrison will direct based on an original script from playwright Melissa James Gibson. The story follows two rival con men who put their differences aside to undertake a get rich scheme selling Christmas trees in New York City.

This sounds delightfully wacky, and with Giamatti and Rudd in the leads it could be something special. Filming begins next month, so maybe there's a chance this film will turn up by Christmas time? [Variety]
