Lou Taylor Pucci joins remake of 'The Evil Dead'
So far, the Sam Raimi/Bruce Campbell produced remake of The Evil Dead is looking to be a showcase for up 'n coming, under the radar talent. Just last week saw Jane Levy(Suburgatory) taking on the lead role, with Shiloh Fernandez(Red Riding Hood) quickly following behind her. Now you can add another actor into the mix who has been waiting for his big break.
It's weird to think of Lou Taylor Pucci as the veteran of the young cast, but with his addition he kinda fits the bill. While only 26 years old, he's been acting steadily for more than a decade, first gaining notoriety back in 2005 for Thumbsucker, directed by Mike Mills(Beginners). Pucci has always had a knack for playing guys who were a touch too smart for their own good(see Fifty Pills), and in The Evil Dead he appears to be continuing that trend. The story this time has a group of friends hanging out at a secluded cabin in the woods, only to have one of them accidentally unleash a bunch of demons. Pucci will play Eric, an academic who lets his intellectual curiosity get the best of him.
With Diablo Cody doing the latest rewrite of the script, and a newbie like Fede Alvarez directing, I'm curious to know what some of the Evil Dead die hards out there think about this remake? Are you excited? Cautiously optimistic? Or would you rather it all just go away?
Filming will likely kick off next month, with an April 12th 2013 release date.
