New poster for 'Lovelace' shows Amanda Seyfried as the 'Deep Throat' star

As interesting as the story of iconic porn star Linda Lovelace is, there's little hope of people being interested enough to support two films on the subject. That's why it's been so fascinating watching the neck and neck race between the two rival films trying to tell her story. One, titled Inferno, used to have Lindsay Lohan in the lead role before finally settling on Malin Akerman. The other, titled Lovelace, has a surprising amount of positive buzz surrounding it, making it one of the most hotly anticipated indie films of the coming year. What's the big deal about Inferno? A lot of it has to do with it's star, Amanda Seyfried.

With her innocent appearance and history of schmaltzy romances(Mamma Mia!, Letters to Juliet), the marketing strategy has been to put Seyfried out there as much as possible, hoping people will jump at the chance to see her get a little dirty.  The New York Times has debuted the latest poster and a couple of new images from the film, showing Seyfried in a vintage style poster for Deep Throat, the film that made Lovelace a household name.

Directed by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, they've assembled a cast that Inferno simply can't touch. Peter Sarsgaard, Sharon Stone, Juno Temple, Wes Bentley, Hank Azaria, Bobby Cannavale, Chris Noth, Robert Patrick, Eric Roberts, Adam Brody, Chloe Sevigny, Sarah Jessica Parker co-star with James Franco making a cameo as Hugh Hefner.

Seyfried has been trying for awhile to shed her good girl image, and so far those attempts have all been goose eggs like Chloe.  But Lovelace seems to have hooked everybody's attention, so maybe this will be the turn that finally does it for her.
