In the press release for Iron Sky, a ridiculous looking piece of sci-fi schlock hailing from Finland, it states that the tickets sold for the premier at the Berlin Film Festival outpaced the offerings from Werner Herzog and Angelina Jolie. To me that says a lot more about the sketchy tastes of the audience rather than a commentary on how good the film is.
They're Nazis, from the dark side of the moon! Apparently, years earlier the Nazis had fled the earth only to set up shop on the small planet, waiting for their time to get revenge on the people of earth. Using a futuristic fleet of space ships, they wage their war against the planet, which is led by a Sarah Palin lookalike. Not even the government can talk about the "moon Nazis" without laughing their asses off. It sounds like something Uwe Boll would have vomited up, but it's actually directed by Timo Vuorensola, the guy behind those awful Star Wreck parodies. On the positive side, the production values don't look that bad, and the film has Udo Kier in it. Nothing can ever be truly awful when Udo Kier is around, that's all I'm sayin'.
Iron Sky will hit theaters worldwide on April 4th, but honestly most of us will see this crap on SyFy Channel or on VOD. Check out the trailer below....
