Kenji Kamiyama, director of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, is looking to try something new with his film, and ironically he's doing it by taking on one of the most revered mangas in history. Kamiyama has released a teaser trailer for Cyborg 009, based on the classic manga by Shotaro Ishinomori about a nine humans who are transformed into cyborgs by a secret organization known as Black Ghost. The cyborgs eventually rebel, and fight to protect the rest of the world from Black Ghost's evil machinations.
The film marks Kamiyama's first time using full 3-D animation, and it's simply gorgeous. By far the best looking work he's done yet. Cyborg 009 will be released in Japan this fall, and hopefully we'll get an English translation not too long after. Check out the trailer for Cyborg 009 below....
