Trailer Time: 'Red Lights', starring Robert De Niro and Cillian Murphy

One of the big surprises coming out of Sundance was the phenomenal response to Red Lights, a star-studded psycho thriller from Buried director Rodrigo Cortes. It was one of the few films I missed while I was there, but it was one of the handful of films literally every industry person kept bringing up, so it was no surprise when it got picked up for distribution by Millennium Entertainment.  A Spanish language version of the trailer came out just a few days ago, but now an English one has been released and I'm starting to see what all the fuss was about.

Sigourney Weaver and Cillian Murphy are Dr. Margaret Matheson and Tom Buckley, two psychologists who specialize in investigating psychics and exposing them as frauds. Robert De Niro plays Simon Silver, an enigmatic and world renowned psychic just returned from a 30 year absence and quickly becomes a phenomenon. Tom grows obsessed with discovering the truth about Silver's powers, to the point where his objectivity may be threatened. Elizabeth Olsen, Joely Richardson, and Toby Jones co-star.

I liked Buried a lot, but this is the type of film I'm much more interested in, and there's a palpable tension throughout.  I just hope it doesn't fall into cliche like so many of these genre flicks tend to do. According to the people I spoke to, there are so many twists and turns it's hard to keep up, but it's totally worth it. Let's hope so! There's no release date set as of yet, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it early next year. Check out the trailer for Red Lights below...[Comingsoon]
