Will Ferrell has been showing up lately in a lot of strange places around the country. Whether it's in his series of odd, meta ads for Old Milwaukee beer, or hilariously announcing the starting line-up at the Bulls/Hornets NBA game, he seems to be a man on a mission. It can likely be chalked up as an off kilter marketing campaign for Ferrell's upcoming Spanish language comedy, Casa De Mi Padre, which opens next month. As busy as he's been, that hasn't stopped Ferrell from adding one more film to his already hectic schedule.
After putting his dramatic muscle to the test in last year's Everything Must Go, Ferrell is jumping back into familiar territory with Flamingo Thief, produced by Ben Stiller's Red Hour Films. Based on the 2010 book by Susan Trott and adapted by Michael LeSieur(You Me & Dupree), Ferrell will play Tim Forrester, a multi-millionaire business owner who deals with the loss of his son by stealing flamingos. It begins with a little china flamingo and escalates over time, with Tim's obsession ultimately threatening his career and his marriage.
No timetable has been set for when production will kick off, as producers are currently on the hunt for a director. After Casa De Mi Padre, Ferrell will appear opposite Zach Galifianakis in the political season comedy, Dog Fight, due out in August. [Variety]
