Just last month we gave you the first look at the CG animated Starship Troopers: Invasion, officially the fourth film in the franchise begun with 1997's Paul Verhoeven flick. Based loosely on Robert Heinlein's novels, the story actually takes place as if the other terrible sequels never took place, and in part follows two teams of Roughnecks locked in a war against the alien "bugs" looking to destroy all of humankind. Now the first official trailer has been released, and while brief it appears to be more serious and less satire than we're used to from Starship Troopers.
Shinji Aramaki(Appleseed) is directing, with Casper Van Dien and Edward Neumeier as exec producers. This summer sees the film head straight-to-DVD, but I hold out hope for even a limited Fathom Events-hosted run before then. Check out the trailer below....[IGN]
