Joseph Gordon-Levitt adds Julianne Moore to his directorial debut
Kinda seems like a perfect creative marriage, doesn't it? The diverse, cerebral Joseph Gordon-Levitt and the equally challenging Julianne Moore coming together for a film that will be the former's directorial debut? It should've happened sooner, but now is as good a time as any with Variety reporting Moore will join the actor's untitled romantic comedy.
Already with Scarlett Johansson in the female lead, the story follows a Don Juan type who sets out on a journey to be less of a jerk, or as Levitt describes him, a "selfish dick". Moore, who is coming off some of the best reviews of her already great career for her portrayal of Sarah Palin in Game Change, will play an unlikely mentor. Filming is set to begin next month, and this better be good since Levitt won't be able to do Django Unchained because of it.
Moore has been a fantastic, reliable actress for years, and it's good to see her taking on challenging roles again after going through a bit of a slump. Remember Next? Or Freedomland? Ugh. Although many didn't have a chance to see it, my favorite performance she gave was in The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio. If you haven't checked that out yet, put it on your Netflix queue immediately. Moore is set to begin shooting The Seventh Son later this year.
