'Project X' and '21 Jump Street' writer Michael Bacall confirms role in 'Django Unchained'
Few screenwriters ever get a complete year as good as the first three months Michael Bacall has had so far. After making the fanboy class happy a couple of years ago with his script for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, he emerged this year as writer of the widely praised Chronicle. This weekend sees him with what looks to be a another hit in 21 Jump Street. But beyond that, we'll also get a shot to see him on the big screen as part of Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained.
Forget Prometheus and The Avengers, no other film has had a more secretive shoot than Tarantino's racially charged spaghetti western. Currently in production, we've seen practically nothing from the set up to this point, and it's possible we won't until the film opens on December 25th. One thing we can confirm, thanks to ScreenCrave, is that Bacall will have a small role. This shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, as Bacall had brief appearances in Death Proof and Inglourious Basterds.
Bacall admits to only being on set for a single day, so it's likely his part is a "blink and you'll miss it" sort of deal. That still means he got to hang out for a little while with Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz, Kurt Russell(Stuntman Mike!!!), Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Rza, Misty Upham, Don Johnson, Dennis Christopher, Sacha Baron Cohen, Anthony LaPaglia, and that's just a part of it.
