With the first full breasted trailer for Piranha 3DD arriving just a couple of weeks ago, it was expected that Dimension Films was on the verge of finally announcing a release date. Originally set for last November, the film was taken off the schedule suddenly, and then banished to straight-to-DVD Hell in the UK, leading some(including me) to speculate on the future of John Gulager's comedy horror sequel. Well we can all put those fears to rest, as Shocktilyoudrop has confirmed the film will splash down on June 1st.
This puts it right into the heart of the summer blockbuster madness, which promises to be furious as usual. That week Piranha 3DD will square off against Snow White and the Huntsman, which should make for an interesting box office match up. The following week they'll both be royally trounced by Ridley Scott's Prometheus, so Dimension is probably looking for a huge opening weekend to float them along.
In the follow-up to Alexandre Aja's surprise hit, the murderous fishies are still alive and hungrier than ever, turning their razor fanged attention to the town's biggest summer attraction, Big Wet water park!
