Oscar winning screenwriter William Monahan(The Departed) will make Mojave his next directing gig, following his recent debut with the Colin Farrell led crime flick, London Boulevard. Monahan, who already has a stacked schedule, had been considering two films to step behind the camera for, but it was Mojave that got funding through Atlas Entertainment. Details on the plot are few. All we really know is that it's a crime thriller with production set to begin in this summer in Southern California.
Monahan just finished writing a script for The Gambler, a remake of the 1974 film which has Martin Scorsese attached to direct at some point. He also wrote the first draft of Oblivion, the sci-fi film starring Tom Cruise. He's also doing script work on Sin City 2 for Robert Rodriguez.
