If your head was proper blown by the additions of Ben Kingsley and Guy friggin' awesome Pearce to the cast of Iron Man 3, then prepare to be knocked on your ass yet again. Deadline reports that the omnipresent Jessica Chastain is back in talks for a role in Shane Black's upcoming film.
Excuse me? BACK in talks?
Yeah, apparently she had been in the running for a role of sexy, smart scientist in the superhero film before, but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts with Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty and The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby with Samantha Morton and Joel Edgerton. While the studio sought other alternatives, like Diane Kruger and Isla Fisher, Chastain has now stepped back into the frame to join Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle, and those two kick-ass dudes I mentioned earlier.
If she's playing a "scientist" role in the film, it's possible she could be taking on the role of Maya Hansen, which would put her opposite Pearce, who plays fellow lab nerd Dr. Aldrich Killian. The two are responsible for creating the "Extremis" nano-virus that Killian eventually steals and gives to a terrorist faction.
Chastain. Paltrow. Johansson. That's a lot of hot tail for Stark to chase after. Expect him to be more "hands on" than ever when Iron Man 3 opens on May 3rd 2013.
