Judy Greer the latest to join MGM's 'Carrie' remake
A good way to make your movie instantly better? Bring in Judy Greer. Hard to believe she's the same woman who played Fern Mayo in Jawbreaker, as she's grown to be one of the most reliable funnywomen in the business. Check her out on old episodes of Arrested Development, or last year's The Descendants for proof. Anyway, MGM and director Kimberly Peirce know how good she is, as she's the latest to join the cast of their Carrie remake, playing a role simply described as "the gym teacher". From what I recall, that was a pretty significant part in Brian De Palma's film, so it should be again here.
Also joining up is the uber-hot Gabriella Wilde(The Three Musketeers), taking on the role of Carrie's friend, Sue Snell. Sue is the one who convinces her boyfriend, Tommy, to take Carrie to the prom, and we all know how that turned out. Chloe Moretz is in the title role, with Julianne Moore as her psychotic mother. Ansel Englort will play Tommy, while Alex Russell(Chronicle) will play Billy Nolan, one of the roles that helped jumpstart John Travolta's career.
While nobody was exactly screaming for Stephen King's novel to be adapted yet again, MGM is making all the right moves to make sure this version can stand on its own two feet. Peirce was a perfect choice to direct, and the casting has been superb thus far. Look for the film to open next year on March 15th. [BloodyDisgusting]
