Sure Shots: 'Iron Man 3'; 'Twelve Years A Slave'; Dustin Lance Black

* William Sadler, the character actor most recently seen in Man On A Ledge, is the latest to join the ever increasing cast of Iron Man 3. Or at least he was spotted on set, according to Latino Review. What character he'll play is unclear, but since he's usually a villain(see Die Hard 2), I'm betting that will be the case here, too. With Ben Kingsley, Ashley Hamilton, Guy Pearce, and James Badge Dale already playing bad guys, I'm convinced more than ever that somebody, possibly The Mandarin, is assembling his own crew of armored soldiers to take on Tony Stark(Robert Downey Jr.). Iron Man 3 is due to open on May 3rd 2013.

* How's this for a career trajectory? Nickelodeon's The Amanda Show, to MadTV, to Saturday Night Live, to Steve McQueen's adaptation of Twelve Years A Slave?. That's the path set by Taran Killam, who will join the eagerly awaited film based on Solomon Northrop's incredible memoir. Killam will play one of the traveling circus owners who tricked Northrop, a freed slave, with the promise of a job offer, only to abduct him and put him right back into servitude. Michael Fassbender, Chiwetel Ejiafor, Brad Pitt, Adepero Oduye, and Paul Dano star. Did I forget to mention that Killam is also engaged to Cobie Smulders? Some guys have more than their share of good luck. Spread the wealth. [Deadline]

* Dustin Lance Black(Milk), who just saw his directorial debut, Virginia, sink like a stone, isn't wasting any time moving on to something new. He's planning to write and direct an adaptation of The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight. The novel by Jennifer E. Smith follows 17-year old Hadley Sullivan, who meets the boy of her dreams while on a flight to London to attend her father's second marriage. However, the two are separated in the chaos upon arrival, and now it's up to fate to bring them back together again. [ThePlaylist]
