The Lizard featured in the latest pics from 'The Amazing Spider-Man'
You might have forgotten, but there's this other superhero movie coming out this summer? Yeah, it's a Marvel movie. No, Robert Downey Jr. isn't in it. It's The Amazing Spider-Man, and word on the street has been decidedly quiet for months, which has to have the people at Sony more than a little concerned. With Andrew Garfield in the title role and the spunky Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, there's no shortage of likable stars, with Spider-Man arguably the most popular superhero in the world not named Wolverine. Stow it, Batman fans. So if pushing Garfield as the lead isn't working, there might be some traction in hyping the presence of The Lizard, who many fans were dying to see in Sam Raimi's trilogy.
Rhys Ifans(The Five-Year Engagement) is in the role of Dr. Curt Connors, who after an experiment becomes the scaly, superhuman villain. So far, director Marc Webb has done a good job of keeping exposure to the CGI creation at a minimum, but in the latest batch of photos we get a pretty solid look at him. The other two shots show Connors, looking a moron who might've just shot himself up with something awful, and Gwen Stacy dumbfounded by a little wanton destruction. Pfft! Just wait until she's hanging upside down off of a bridge, then let's see the look on her face!
I'm not totally sold on the idea of the Lizard as a completely CGI villain, but my hopes remain high for the film as a whole. The Amazing Spider-Man will web swing into theaters on July 3rd....[EW]
