Two pieces of Django Unchained scuttlebutt have popped up over the last few days, both gaining a significant amount of traction in the last day. The one that seems most likely to be true, is that a trailer for Quentin Tarantino's Civil War era western will be attached to showings of Prometheus. So that's kinda odd to have 20th Century Fox and The Weinstein Company hooking up to hype one another's movies, but it's not totally out of the question....
Source: the first "Django Unchained" teaser will play in front of "Prometheus."So what could these two, VERY different movies have in common? Well, remember a couple of weeks ago when there seemed to be a mass exodus away from Django Unchained? Kurt Russell left, Sacha Baron Cohen left, and that doesn't include the likes of Joseph Gordon-Levitt who left some months back.We hadn't heard much about who would be replacing them, except that Walter Goggins' role had been expanded a little bit. At Cannes earlier this week, as a few minutes from the film were debuted, Harvey Weinstein revealed that some "surprising" faces could still turn up in it. The latest word on the street has been that one of those faces is PDC fave and Prometheus co-star, Michael Fassbender. There have been reports of him being sighted on set, but there's never been a confirmation of anything. There still isn't, so this could all be for naught...

Then again, it makes sense. Fassbender had a pretty big role in Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds, and most would say they got along famously. It would make sense for the Weinstein's to want to push Django Unchained, and Fassbender's presence in it, by putting it in front of one of the summer's most eagerly awaited films.
We'll see what happens. Prometheus opens on June 8th, and since I'll be seeing it next Thursday they BETTER have a Django Unchained trailer in front of it! 'Django' opens on December 25th. [ThePlaylist]
