3. Men in Black III
Ten years since we last saw the alien fighting Men in Black in action and they don't appear to have lost a step. With a clever time travel premise, some surprising twists for the diehard fans, and a healthy dose of Will Smith charm, Men in Black III make you forget there ever was a Men In Black II.
2. Bernie
Richard Linklater and Jack Black make beautiful music together for the first time since School of Rock in this offbeat black comedy. Black gives a wonderfully layered performance as Bernie Tiede, a man who stays beloved by his small town neighbors, despite being an admitted murderer.
1. I Wish
A wondrous, modern day classic, Hirokazu Komeeda's latest explores the limitless nature of a child's imagination. Heartwarming and life affirming, I Wish perfectly captures the world from the eyes of a kid, where the seemingly small details of daily life can have massive consequences. The story follows two brothers(real life brothers (Koki and Oshiro Maeda)),separated by distance and their parents' divorce, who set out to cast one magical wish that may bring them back together.
DVD Pick of the Week: The Secret World of Arrietty
Journey into the natural, magical world right beneath in our feet in the latest film from Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. This heartwarming tale of loyalty and courage tells the story of a race of diminutive "Borrowers" who live in the nooks and crevasses of human homes. When the rebellious daughter one such family, Arrietty, is discovered by a sickly human boy, their friendship blossoms into a full blown adventure. The best animated film of the year right now, and another Miyazaki classic.
