Trailer Time: 'Les Miserables', starring Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe

Time to get those Oscar ballots ready. Just a day after a batch of new photos for Tom Hooper's adaptation of stage sensation Les Miserables were released, we're now treated to the first trailer, and it simply looks incredible. This coming from somebody who doesn't think much of the source material or the genre, but I may have to rethink a few things.

With Anne Hathaway as Fantine, giving a stirring rendition of 'I Dreamed A Dream', the trailer features just brief glimpses at the incredible cast making up this adaptation of Victor Hugo's 19th century novel. The King's Speech was a small, personal journey that Hooper gave sweeping breadth to, and Les Miserables certainly feels grand in a similar way. He also appears to be trying to tell a story with the music, rather than following the approach favored by fans of Rob Marshall's Chicago or Nine.

Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, Eddie Redmayne, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Sacha Baron Cohen, Helena Bonham Carter, and Samantha Barks make up the principle cast. Les Miserable busts out its first tune on December 7th....
