A Kryptonian War to be featured in 'Man of Steel'?
We're still about a year away from when Zack Snyder's Man of Steel flies into theaters, with Warner Brothers hoping the film will catch fire the same way Christopher Nolan's Batman flicks did. So far they've been pretty good at keeping the finer points of the story under wraps, although there's been plenty of speculation as to what it would entail. From what we've been able to gather, Snyder and writer David Goyer are trying to fit as much of the Superman mythos in as possible.
Comicbookmovie thinks they have the scoop on one part of the story, noting a source that says a "good portion" of the film will take place on a war torn Krypton, the planet of Superman's birth. While Krypton being a component isn't news in and of itself, if it's such a major part then that means we'll likely see a lot more of Russell Crowe and Ayelet Zurer as his biological parents, Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van. If everything we've heard turns out to be true, that we'll also see plenty of Supes as a child and as a teenager in Smallville, then I don't know how they'll be able to fit everything in and have a conflict worth getting excited over.
Man of Steel will have a presence at Comic-Con, and I will be doing my best to be there when they reveal some footage and hopefully a trailer of some sort. Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill, Russell Crowe, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Amy Adams, Antje Traue, Laurence Fishburne, and Ayelet Zurer, and is expected to hit screens on June 14th 2013.
