Awful trailer for 'Atlas Shrugged: Part 2'; October release date planned with new cast
I'm sorry, but when two of the first three people that make up a trailer for any movie are Glen Beck and Sean Hannity, all notions of credibility are flushed down the toilet. But that's what we get in this trailer for Atlas Shrugged part 2, which for awhile didn't look like it would happen after the first film tanked royal in just about every conceivable way. Apparently, the invisible unseen hand of the great marketplace judged the film and found it to be awful and unworthy. You'd think a bunch of so-called followers of Ayn Rand would respect that.
Sporting a bigger budget and a new marketing team headed up by Russell Schwartz of Pandemic Marketing, producers John Aglialoro and Harmon Kaslow have even greater hopes for the film's success this time around, claiming that the industry will take them more seriously now. Why? Because they'll crack 300 theaters and have a few extra dollars to waste? A $15M budget is nothing to sneeze at, but come on. Rand's book still sucks major ass, and I doubt new director John Putch(American Pie Presents: The Book of Love) is the guy to shift the hearts and minds of...well, anybody. Hell, they couldn't even keep the cast from the last film from bailing as pretty much everybody is new.
Samantha Mathis(!), Jason Beghe(!!), Esai Morales(!!!), D.B. Sweeney(!!!!) and Kim Rhodes(?) take over what I'm sure will be the Tea Party's favorite movie of the year. Oh wait, the Tea Party didn't even bother to turn out last time, so why would they now? If you're looking for what will likely be good for a hearty laugh, check out Atlas Shrugged part 2 when it opens on October 12. If you're looking for something to put you to sleep and/or destroy your faith in humanity, try reading Rand's book. Check out the trailer below....[THR via ThePlaylist]
