Logan Lerman and Douglas Booth board Darren Aronofsky's 'Noah'

Two of Hollywood's brightest young stars have had a pretty busy month. Last night, the trailer premiered to some acclaim for The Perks of  Being a Wallflower, which has Logan Lerman(Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief) in the lead. Also, we saw the first image of Douglas Booth about to lay a smooch on Hailee Steinfeld in an upcoming adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. Things are about to get a little bit busier for both actors. In fact, they're going to be downright Biblical, as they're the latest to join Darren Aronofsky's Noah.

Long in the works, the film will be a big budget retelling of the story, with God feeling that humanity hasn't quite lived up to specifications, so he designs to wipe everybody out with a massive flood. Testy dude. However, he does pick Noah and his family to help preserve mankind, so he sends him the instruction manual for a massive ark, orders him to fill that badboy up with pairs of animals, and set sail. Russell Crowe is in the title role, hoping to make us all forget what Steve Carell did to it in Evan Almighty. Lerman will play Noah's son, Ham, with Booth as another son, Shem. Ham's role is interesting because son would eventually be cursed by Noah over some silly transgression which makes absolutely no sense no matter how it's sliced. There's still one of Noah's son's left to be cast, and apparently a love interest as well. Saoirse Ronan is set to play the wife to one of them, although it's not really clear which.

Interestingly, Deadline seems to hint that Jennifer Connelly isn't confirmed as Noah's wife, even though we heard she signed on back in April. Also, it looks like Liam Neeson is indeed out of the picture to play the "villain" of the film. Whatever that entails is unclear to me. Who would be a villain in a story like this? Maybe one of you can shed some light on it.

Noah will have a pretty lengthy production process, sailing into theaters on March 28th 2014.
