If there is one must own movie this week it's 21 Jump Street. I know that will sound funny once you see the next film on the list but I have not had more fun watching a movie than I did with 21 Jump Street in longer than I can remember. The first 30 minutes alone are worth the cost but it actually ends up being a good movie in the end with one of the best cameo's in the last 20 years.
I know many of my critic brethren will gasp when they see I put the best picture winner second on the list. Make no mistake The Artist is an amazing movie, worthy of the honors it's received. That being said bear in mind that it IS a silent film and certainly not for everyone. That being said I would definitely suggest renting this and giving it a try, you may find that the silent film format is much easier to watch than you would have thought.
In the realm of sequels we didn't think would get made is the follow up to 2010's Clash of the Titans. That's not to condemn Wrath of the Titans, quite the opposite. I think Wrath was a lot better than many of us expected and even still give it credit for. While not a buy for most this one is a good bet for a Friday night rental!
