Sure Shots: Benjamin Walker; 'Dirty Dancing'; 'World War Z'

* Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter star, Benjamin Walker, has entered talks to star opposite Henry Cavill in The Great Wall. It was just a few days ago we learned the finalists came down to him and Alexander Skarsgard(True Blood), joining the Ed Zwick written and directed film about two 15th century British soldiers who uncover a great mystery surrounding the construction of the Great Wall of China. * Lionsgate has gone and put Baby right back into the corner. With a release date set for July 26th 2013 and Kenny Ortega attached to direct, the studio has unexpectedly put their Dirty Dancing remake on hold. The reason given has to do with casting issues, with I guess the studio not being satisfied with those who've auditioned. Among those who tried out were Lea Michele(Glee), Derek Hough(Dancing with the Stars), and Luke Grime(Brothers and Sisters). The soonest the film could happen now would be 2014. [Deadline]

* Hmm...reason for concern? Once set to be released this coming December, the Marc Forster-directed, Brad Pitt-starring adaptation of World War Z was pushed back to June 21st 2013, with nearly two months of reshoots rumored to be taking place. Obviously, not a good sign. Now it's being reported that Damon Lindelof(Prometheus) has been hired to do a rewrite, specifically targeting the final act. The film has been in development forever, and having now read the book I can see why. If staying true to the source, I don't understand how it can done. Max Brooks' novel deals with the ramifications of a zombie apocalypse, and how the threat played out around the world, ultimately bringing humanity together. [THR]
