The Wolfpack to wake up in Tijuana for 'The Hangover Part III'
Before the critical corpse on The Hangover Part II had gone cold, we were already hearing plans for what Todd Phillips has said will be the final part of The Wolfpack trilogy. Craig Mazin was hired in May of last year to get crackin' on the script for The Hangover Part III, which presumably would take the gang to yet another party locale, just as they had done in Las Vegas and Thailand before. Now we know where at least some of their next adventure will take place.
The Film Stage got wind of a pair of reports in the Toronto Sun and Las Vegas Sun that say the film will shoot in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and somehow end up in Tijuana, Mexico. According to the reports, the story sounds almost exactly how Zach Galifianakis described it last year, with Stu and Phil busting Alan out of a mental ward. If that turns out to be true, then Phillips and Co. have had this story in place for a long time.
Those who complained about the first two films bearing too close a resemblance should be happy, as Phillips has also said he'll wrap things up with a story that's a break from the usual formula. Personally, I didn't have a problem with it, and think that if the sequel had been too different, people still would have complained. The Hangover set a standard that was impossible to live up to.
Production should begin soon for a release on May 24th 2013.
