'The Dark Knight Rises' runtime confirmed

Christopher Nolan's got a lot of story to tell in his Batman trilogy, and so far the first two movies all been over 2 1/2 hours long. Batman Begins ran at about 140 minutes, while The Dark Knight was 152 minutes. With The Dark Knight Rises seemingly having more characters and more plotlines coalescing into shape, it was pretty much a given that it would be as long if not longer. Yep, you might want to get the jumbo sized popcorn for this one, not to mention hitting the restroom early.

The British Board of Film Classification has revealed that the runtime for The Dark Knight Rises is a whopping 164 minutes. That's 2 hours and 44 minutes of garbled Bane speech and Christian Bale sounding like he's been gargling battery acid. I'm not going to lie, I thought the last film could have used about 20 minutes trimmed off of it, but I like that Nolan takes all the time he needs to fully present his vision.

The Dark Knight Rises opens in IMAX on July 20th.
