New images from Spike Lee's 'Red Hook Summer'

Spike Lee has spent the last few years away from narrative features, focusing on documentaries that fit into his deeply rooted sense of community and personal struggle. With the Oldboy remake on the horizon, Lee will first take step back into his vaunted Chronicles of Brooklyn series with the highly anticipated Red Hook Summer.

A batch of new images from the polarizing Sundance festival film have been released, and this looks like old school Lee at his best. The film centers on a middle class Atlanta boy named Flick Royale (Jules Brown), who spends a summer in the titular burough with his deeply religious grandfather, Bishop Enoch James, played by The Wire's Clarke Peters. Flick deals with a heavy dose of culture clash, along with his Enoch's constant attempts to convert him, but he eventually begins to see that not everything is as screwed up as it appears.

Red Hook Summer opens on August 10th. Check out the new photos below... [HeyUGuys]
