The Sunday Drive 7/1/12

3. Magic Mike
Channing Tatum bares more than just skin in the surprisingly textured stripper drama, Magic Mike. Based in part on his early career, Tatum gives a strong performance as a male dancer with aspirations of breaking away from the business, but the seductive pull of the lifestyle remains a constant threat.

2. Ted
Not for the faint of heart or the easily offended, Seth MacFarlane's unconventional buddy comedy has more laughs than almost anything you'll see this year.  Only the Family Guy creator could make a film that is so over-the-top, yet injected with enough heart to make you care about a guy and his friendship with a crude and sexist talking teddy bear.
1. Seeking a Friend for the End of the World
Steve Carell and Keira Knightley show an unexpected screen chemistry in Lorene Scafaria's road trip romance with an apocalyptic twist. Unpredictable, heartbreaking, and full of life bursting from every frame, this is a movie everyone should endeavor to experience before it's too late.

DVD Pick of the Week: 21 Jump Street
Really? Jonah Hill's going to do a big screen remake of the silly 1980s teen cop drama that launched Johnny Depp's career? Good luck with that. Turns out he made fools out of us all because 21 Jump Street isn't just the funniest movie of the year, it's one of the smartest as well. Hill pairs up with the versatile Channing Tatum for a nostalgia-fueled thrill ride that has enough action, laughs, and clever insights to make it the year's biggest surprise.
