Are we in the midst of a science-fiction renaissance? It would be hard to argue that the last couple of years have seen some of the smartest and action intensive genre films from the likes of Duncan Jones, Neill Blomkamp, and J.J. Abrams. Judging by all we've seen from the time travel flick, Looper, we'll soon be able to add Rian Johnson to that list.
A new international trailer for the film has been released, and while it features plenty that we've seen before, it goes a long way in explaining the mechanics of the time travel system at the heart of the story. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays a "looper", basically a hitman in the present who disposes of victims sent from the future. He gets more than he bargained for when his latest target turns out to be a future version of himself, played by Bruce Willis.
