Paramount isn't messin' around when it comes to their newly relaunched Jack Ryan franchise, are they? Yesterday saw the release of the first image of Chris Pine as a younger version of the popular CIA agent, and now today we get a shot of him alongside Kevin Costner as his mentor, William Harper.
Costner is taking on an integral role in Paramount's plans to create an expansive brand centered on the Tom Clancy character. He'll be a part of what they hope to be a trilogy of films, assuming it does better than the last Jack Ryan film, 2002's The Sum of All Fears. Harper will also turn up in Without Remorse, a spinoff focusing on ex-Navy SEAL John Kelly. Christopher McQuarrie(The Way of the Gun) is adapting and directing the novel with Tom Hardy circling the lead role.
Jack Ryan is due to hit theaters on Christmas 2013, and will be directed by Kenneth Branagh.
