1st 'Stand Up Guys' trailer with Al Pacino, Christopher Walken, and Alan Arkin

Hollywood figured out over the summer that if you make movies targeted at older folks, they will go out of their way to buy a ticket. Movies like like The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Hope Springs, and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen all performed well and showed not every film needs to be geared towards the younger demo. The producers behind the upcoming crime comedy, Stand Up Guys, are looking to hit that same sweet spot and they've got just the right cast to make this another surprise hit.

The trailer for Stand Up Guy has been released, which stars Al Pacino and Christopher Walken as two best friends and lifelong criminals, who hit the town for a wild night after Pacino's character is released from prison after a 28-year stint. The guys, joined by the always welcome Alan Arkin, proceed to do drugs, steal cars, and perform random acts of violence in some misguided attempt to atone. There's just one problem, and it's that Walken's character has been blackmailed into killing his buddy before the night is through.

So there's definitely more to this story than just a bunch of old guys acting like a bunch of frat boys. The tone is a bit darker, and it's not readily apparent which direction the plot is going to go. Certainly, the big draw is getting to see these three great actors all in one place, but it's also good their might be some substance to what they're doing.

Fisher Stevens(Crazy Love) is directing for release on January 11th....
