There are so many reasons why David O. Russell's Silver Linings Playbook seems poised to be a huge player when the Oscars roll around. Let's start with O. Russell's recent Academy Award success with The Fighter, and that he's always been something of a critical darling. There's the accolades and acclaim that have been showered on the film after it premiered in Toronto, including winning the vaunted audience award. The subject of mental illness is a touchy one, but under the right care is ripe with comic potential.
As this brand new trailer highlights, the most important aspect is the incredible cast of talented stars at the top of their game, including Bradly Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, and Robert De Niro. It's also good to see Chris Tucker back doing something meaningful again. This trailer shows just how chaotic, unpredictable, funny, and sweet the film will be, beginning with a 4AM rant by Pat(Cooper) in his parents' bedroom and culminating in an unexpected dance number with Tiffany(Lawrence), the equally troubled woman also trying to get her life in order.
