David O. Russell and Bradley Cooper re-teaming for 'American Sniper'?

So are David O. Russell and Bradley Cooper the newest and hottest hetero Hollywood couple? It used to be Russell and his The Fighter pal, Mark Wahlberg, but they've ditched one another on a couple of projects already and don't seem to be getting back together anytime soon. In fact, it was Cooper who replaced Wahlberg on Russell's adaptation of The Silver Linings Playbook, which has received glowing reviews out of Toronto. The two are set to work together again on the political thriller, formerly titled American Bullshit, and they may already be planning their next project.

While talking to THR, Russell revealed that he and Cooper have also discussed American Sniper, the autobiography from military sniper Chris Kyle that the actor picked up the rights to back in May. Cooper will produce through his 22nd and Indiana production shingle, and likely star as the ten-year Navy SEAL who amassed more kills in recorded history, leading to the Iraqis putting a bounty on his head. Cooper would probably take the lead role, with Jason Hall(Spread) writing the script.

Russell certainly knows his way through movies set in the Middle East after making his big splash with Three Kings, so this seems like a project perfect for the duo. [via ThePlaylist]
