Hug it out, bro! Doug Ellin's "Entourage" script is nearly complete

Yesterday marked the one year anniversary since HBO's Entourage went off the air, and long before we were ever hit over the head by that "whopper" of a cliffhanger, there was already talk of a feature film. To be fair, every HBO series ends with talk of a feature film, and they NEVER happen. But Entourage had a better shot than most with the muscle of exec-producer(and occasional guest star) Mark Wahlberg backing it. Now Deadline is reporting that series creator Doug Ellin is on the cusp of completing the script, meaning we might not be far away from HBO giving it the green light.

The film will apparently pick up six months after the last episode, which saw the gang flying off to Paris to see Vince(Adrien Grenier) get married to some random chick(played by Alice Eve), and loud-mouthed Ari Gold(Jeremy Piven) getting an offer to take over a major studio.I found the episode a little weak, to be honest, and the final season disappointing as a whole. They were just trying to wrap up too much and clearly targeting a warm 'n fuzzy conclusion.

Ellin's description of the film's story sounds like it could've been a single episode of the first season....

Ellin: “There are interesting developments about Ari as a studio head, and that’s still the first page for me. But foremost is the friendship between the guys who are still hanging out and going to fun parties, and it continues with the same characters."

Wahlberg is apparently pushing Ellin to get this thing done, and I don't exactly think Kevin Connolly and Kevin Dillon are the most sought after actors in Hollywood, so if HBO says it's a "go" then expect Entourage to start production before too long.
