Jean Shepard, Darren McGavin, and Scott Schwartz's career are probably rolling in their graves right now. A Christmas Story is the quintessential holiday film, and you'd be hard pressed to find anyone(other than my wife, remarkably) who hasn't seen it and loved it. Ralphie's quest for a Red Rider BB Gun, "You'll shoot your eye out", and double dog dares are as much a part of Christmas for me and many others as hanging up the stocking.
So who are the America hating douchebags who keep trying to ruin it with lousy sequels? There have already been a handful, but the straight-to-DVD A Christmas Story 2 is the only one that claims to be the "official sequel". Looking like it was vomited up by one of Santa's reindeer, the film features an F-list cast(poor Daniel Stern!!!) doing their best to leech off the 1983 classic and trick you into putting this lump of coal under someone's tree this Christmas. The story follows a 16-year old Ralphie who has traded up his ambitions from a BB Gun to a new car. All of the characters you used to know will now be poorly characterized and rendered unrecognizable, if this trailer is to be believed.
If you really want to piss somebody off you can buy A Christmas Story 2 for them on October 30th....
